A mapping specialist for more than 12 years in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, Mark before joined the Google Kenya maps team to leave it in 2011 with the inauguration of his social enterprise Upande Limited. Upande is a word formed by the acronym of terms commonly used in mapping—”Location, direction, destination, alongside and up,” and they provide advisory and technical development services in ICT and digital mapping. He has joined us as the secretary of the Fountain of Hope advisory board.

On a more personal level, Mark is an adult missionary kid that has spent 12 years of his youth in Kenya. Married to Jody, father of two beautiful kids, he worships God at the Mamlaka Hill Chapel where he is actively involved in Bible study groups and in facilitating the Marriage Course. His hobbies include tinkering with computers and breeding endangered Lake Victoria fish.
